Financial Fitness Part 2: Become a Money Magnet

Last week, I challenged you to pay yourself first, and to really look at stretching the amount that you were paying yourself if you were already doing so. How did you do? If you didn’t do it, take this week on as your opportunity.

Over the next several weeks, I am emphasizing financial fitness simply because having more money is a natural human desire for many. I have been asked by many of my clients how they can increase their wealth in their careers or businesses? And, while that question is important, it left me wondering how many of us are not paying attention to the wealth we have now.

Tax season is coming up, and many people often look at how much money they can get back from their taxes, or they look at how they can write off their expenses without giving much regard to the fact that, throughout the year, they may be giving a lot their money away.

I recently facilitated a two-part seminar series entitled “Become a Money Magnet.” I asked the participants to write down their monthly expenses. They were to write down the names of the creditors on one side of the paper, and on the other side to write down the amounts due as well. The follow up assignment was for each participant to take a look at all of his or her bills for the past three months to see if there were any errors. In our feedback session, the majority of the participants found discrepancies with their bills and received credits on these items. One person’s total estimated credits came to almost $500 within the three-month period, while another shared that she received $90 in credits from her cellular bills. Everyone, even computer databases, can potentially make errors from time to time. It is up to you to take the few minutes it takes and double-check your bills and/or accounts.

My challenge for you this week is to “become a money magnet” by taking a look at your last three months or even six months of bills; you can even call the companies directly and ask them to go over the statements with you over the phone. It only takes a few moments—after all, it is for your own well-being. You may just be surprised at your discoveries.

Let us all take on this challenge. If you have any stories, especially a success story in this regard to share, send me an email at atasha@visionmanifest.com
